Ross Furniture

Ross Furniture on Third Street is one of downtown Dover’s anchors. The building was first home to Elias Anton’s furniture business from about 1928 to 1941 when it changed hands and became Ross Furniture. Ross Furniture has always been an independent, family-run business and is now owned and managed by the Howard family. Owner Jason Howard, who purchased the landmark business in 1997, has worked at Ross for 43 years. Here, Jason and his son, Josh Howard, talk about the furniture store’s history and future, continuing the family business tradition, competing in an ever-encroaching world of big box stores, and keeping faith.
